2. Installation

2.1. Programmer's installation

  1. You must have installed Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.1 (or higher) compliant runtime environment in order to run Selathco:
    • on Windows 95/NT with Internet Explorer: you already have everything,
    • otherwise: get a copy of JDK 1.1 or any other compatible software.

Note: A JDK 1.1 compatible Java compiler (which not shipped with Windows 95/NT) is needed for writing new LaTeX command handlers.

  2. Download the latest version of Selathco. Run the installer or unpack the ZIP archive to an arbitrary directory (is referred as "<install_directory>" in this document).

2.2 Quick start for MSIE 4.0+ users

If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, you can run Selathco as an applet:
  1. Before you start, you must change your browser Java security permissions to:
    • enable file dialogs,
    • allow read/write access to your local files, and (optionally)
    • enable system information retrieving.
You can use the configuration guide which will help you to go through this procedure.

  2. After you have finished successfully the configuration setup, you can run Selathco from within this page by clicking the button bellow:

Sorry, you browser does not run Java applets.

Warning: This applet will not run in any non-JDK 1.1+ compliant browser!
